Are you feeling growing pains? Boerne is experiencing rapid development and many residents are concerned. But we don't have to sit on the sidelines!

The 10-year Boerne Master Plan update is happening now.  This plan is a guiding document that will inform city decisions for years to come.

For those who may not have seen it - the City of Boerne forwarded a Press Release late Thursday regarding the postponement of the public hearing for the re-zoning of 14+ acres located at 17 Herff. Note use of the word "postponement". The Developer can request this be placed back on the agenda at any point in the upcoming months.

"Rezoning request for the Legacy at Cibolo development at 17 Herff...

The Carbon Company development at 17 Herff has renamed itself "Legacy at the Cibolo".

An apt name for a controversial plan for an old neighborhood. There has been strong opposition to the requested zoning from citizens through overflow City Council meetings, petitions, public demonstrations, and letters to the editor.

We have been told that the developer needed the dense commercial and residential zoni...

On April 24, City Council voted to zone the property at 17 Herff Road as MU-1. This is a much more restrictive zoning than the city staff recommendation and is major setback for the developer. The citizens spoke out and it made a difference! Our hard work is starting to pay off.

We are extremely grateful that Council members, Nina Woolard, Joe Anzollitto, and Charlie Boyd, stood with citizens...

There has been significant public outcry about the proposal to zone 17 Herff Road MU-2 and R-4. We've seen protests, had over 1,200 people sign a petition, and nearly 100 people showed up at City Council to voice their opposition. These are some of the highest density zonings available and would have a major impact on this surrounding area. Many reasons have been brought up explaining why this is...

In the Agenda for Tomorrow's City Council meeting, city staff state in the 17 Herff Agenda Item Summary that “There is scientific data that supports staff’s view that multi-family development generates less traffic than single family residential.” This does not provide the complete picture.

In the higher density myth/fact (attachment 9 in the Agenda), it states that apartments generate 6.3 trips per da...

For this discussion I am going to place the Herff Road Expansion as the first domino. This expansion, deemed necessary in the face of impending Esperanza traffic, opened up once-peaceful homesteads, to the noise and congestion of a busy thoroughfare.

As we already know, the congestion on Herff is forcing traff...

There are a lot of questions going around about the 17 Herff Road Development. Here are answers to some of the more commonly repeated:

If we don’t zone this as the developer wants, won’t other developers be scared off?

Kendall County is the second fastest growing county in the United States. Developers are lined up to make big profits off our town. It is up to the citizens to help the developers identif...

Come this Tuesday, 4/25, to the City Council Meeting to share your voice!

The proposal to permanently zone 17 Herff Road as MU2 and R-4 has alarmed many in our community. The developer plans to build 250 apartments in 3-story buildings and 7-8 commercial businesses in strip-mall style buildings that back up to the Cibolo Creek. This development will dramatically change the face of our town. Here’s why...
